Our weekend started with a visit from our good friends from Pella, the Schmitz family! Whenever we head back to Pella we try to see them so it was really great to have them stop by our place before starting their vacation. We were able to spend Friday afternoon/evening with them as we grilled out and let the kids play in the backyard. We also watched some of the opening of the Olympics.
All of our kids together before the Schmitz family headed to the Abraham
Lincoln Museum on Saturday morning.

After they took off, we packed our things and headed to Chicago. First stop: American Girl store. Summer had some birthday money that she wanted to spend there. While we spent time in the store, the boys headed to the Lego store that was next door. It worked out great.
Summer with her daddy :) Love!
Once we finished there, Sean talked us into walking over to Garrett's Popcorn to grab some goodies there and then we walked back to the van. It was time to make our way to Schaumburg, IL where Legoland awaited us. Everyone had been telling us it was the place to go if our kids enjoyed legos and I think it's safe to say that they really enjoyed it.

We were all pretty tired after the day we had so we headed to the hotel to relax and watch some Olympics! The next morning we headed back to Chicago for a Cubs game. It was a first for all the kids and all I could do was pray that the little ones made it through :)
We ended up having a great time. We were playing the Cardinals and the game had gone into the 10th inning. Unfortunately, I missed the home run that hit in the game winning run because I was taking the two little ones to the bathroom :( Oh well. I guess that's life with kids, right?
As soon as the game finished, we headed down to the field so the kids could run the bases. Even though it was a pain to get down there and it was incredibly crowded, the kids had a blast getting to run on the Cubs field! It was a fun getaway and a time we'll always remember. As Mason would say, "Go Hubs!"
