Meet Poundy

Our church had a carnival a few weeks ago and there were amusement rides, games, a food tent, a beer tent and lots of fun going on. On Thursday night one game caught Noah's eye and it was one where you could win a fish. We told him we didn't have anything for a fish at home and to put it simply, we didn't want one.

Fast forward to Saturday afternoon. I worked from 2-5 at the carnival and Sean came around 4:15 or so with the kids to start getting some rides/games out of their systems. No more than fifteen minutes after being there, Noah runs over to the table I was working at with a fish in a bag of water. Just lovely!

We brought the kids home that night, put the fish and water in a larger vase I had (we had nothing else for it) and decided if the fish would make it through the night, we'd go out and buy a fish bowl and whatever else was needed. I think the fish knew I really didn't want it around because he survived.

The next morning after church we stopped at Meijer, picked up the necessary things and welcomed the fish to the family. Only problem was that he barely made it another 12 hours and died through the night. I couldn't not go get a new one for the kids after we just got a fish bowl, rocks and food for it. So a couple days later we went and picked out a new fish and it's been alive for over a week now.

Noah named him "Poundy" because he is quite an aggressive fish and is always running into the bowl. He was quite stubborn when trying to get him out of the aquarium at the store as well.

Father's Day

We had a wonderful father's day at our house. The day started with thunderstorms and Sean had to head out to help with the final clean up that was needed from the carnival that took place over the weekend. While he was gone, the kids and I finished his gift: a grilling apron. It was the kids' idea and we hit Hobby Lobby for the supplies needed to make it.

He does have one more gift on the way, but he'll have to wait just a bit for that one. We ran a little behind, but better late than never, right?

We hit late mass and then Meijer to get a few things for grilling later that afternoon. We also made the annual calls to our own dads to wish them a Happy Father's Day.

While the grilling was taking place, the kids played a little ladder ball in the backyard and played with bubbles. Madison was checking out the new karaoke app Sean downloaded for them.

I have a few of Summer with the bubbles because I couldn't pick just one to put in :)

Even Marley had a good time relaxing in the grass! Isn't he cute?!

The baby back ribs Sean made were tasty!!!

Once we finished up eating the ribs, party potatoes and fruit salad, Mason thought he'd step in while Madison was practicing her pitching and try to hit one.

Sean has been such a wonderful dad to all four of our kids. He spends as much time as he can with them because he knows our time with them being little and under our roof will fly by so quickly. He also knows what an important influence a caring, loving and involved dad can have on them now and in the future.

The kids and I are so lucky to have such a wonderful man in our lives. We love you Sean!

Girls' Bedroom Updates

So after being in our new house for over 7 months, I was finally getting the itch to start painting and redoing some things to the way we wanted. The first on my list was the girls' bedroom.

Before (to show previous color)

After (Daffodil Yellow)

They had fun putting up the wall decals!

Hoping to get a new dresser soon with bigger drawers and less shelves for the girls to clutter up. It's so cute though.

And we need one more curtain. We wanted to make sure it worked well with their window and that we liked it before buying both.

The changes have made the room much brighter and not so dull and boring. And I'm hoping a fun room may make them want to keep it a little cleaner and more organized. I'm guessing I may be out of luck with that, though.

Now to finish up the boys' room!
